Butter adds depth, leaving a comforting finish that feels home baked.
2–3 cans15–29 oz each sliced peaches in heavy syrup (do not drain)
1box15.25 oz vanilla cake mix
1 to 1½sticks butter½ to ¾ cup, salted or unsalted
Instructions
Start by heating your oven to 350°F (175°C). While it warms up, lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish so nothing sticks.
Pour the canned peaches straight into the dish, including all the syrup. Spread them out gently with a spoon so the fruit is evenly layered across the bottom.
Take the dry vanilla cake mix and sprinkle it evenly over the peaches, making sure the fruit is fully covered. Leave it as is don’t stir or mix.
Melt the butter and slowly drizzle it over the cake mix, or cut the butter into thin slices and place them evenly across the top so it melts into the mix as it bakes.
Place the dish in the oven and bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, until the top becomes golden brown and you see the peach filling bubbling up around the edges. Once done, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Notes: Use 2 cans for a thicker topping, 3 cans for extra juicy cobbler. If you like a richer crust, use the full 1½ sticks of butter. For added flavor, a light sprinkle of cinnamon on top before baking works beautifully.
