Ingredients
  

For the Cake:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 400 g granulated white sugar 2 cups
  • 312 g all-purpose flour 2 ½ cups
  • 240 ml whole milk 1 cup
  • 60 g butter lightly salted (¼ cup)
  • 2 ¼ tsp baking powder
  • 180 ml vegetable oil ¾ cup
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Buttercream Frosting:

  • 30 ml heavy whipping cream 2 tbsp
  • 227 g unsalted butter room temperature (1 cup)
  • 360 g confectioners’ sugar 3 cups
  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp kosher salt

Instructions
 

Prepare the Oven and Pans:

  • Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans and line them with parchment paper for easy removal.

Mix Wet Ingredients:

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the milk, vegetable oil, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients:

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, folding gently until smooth and free of lumps.

Bake the Cake:

  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.

Prepare the Buttercream:

  • In a large bowl, beat the butter until creamy. Gradually add the confectioners’ sugar, salt, and vanilla extract. Pour in the heavy cream and beat until the frosting is smooth, light, and fluffy.

Assemble the Cake:

  • Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of buttercream on top. Place the second cake layer over it and frost the top and sides with the remaining buttercream. Decorate as desired.
